Camiel Wybo’s stained glass windows
Camille Wybo was born in Veurne in 1878. He was the ten-year younger brother of Arthur Wybo who worked as a draughtsman at Jules Capronnier’s famous glass studio in Scharbeek from 1900 to 1910. This he later took over. The brothers had a studio together in the Handboogstraat in Veurne. The St. Walburga Church in Veurne still features the magnificent stained glass windows they drew. Until his death in 1937, Camille managed the archives of Arthur, who died in 1914.
Flemish dining room
The windows of the old Flemish dining room on the second floor of Lo City Hall and belfry were made by Camille in 1922 and mark the completion of the major restoration of Lo’s belfry after World War I. The stained glass windows show the coats of arms of the secular and ecclesiastical rulers of the time are depicted.

Wanneer het was is niet meer bekend maar tijdens een editie van de Gentse Feesten ontstond de interesse in de geschiedenis en de betekenis van Belforts. Met een vette knipoog naar Reinhold Messner die als eerste de veertien hoogste toppen van de wereld beklom moest iemand maar eens de eerste zijn die alle belforten van de Lage Landen gaat beklimmen! Pas later werd duidelijk dat het er geen 14 maar 56 zijn. Die Messner had het maar makkelijk.
